NTEU Holds Annual Legislative Conference

Press Release March 4, 2026

WASHINGTON — The National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU) kicked off its annual legislative conference today, bringing together federal employees to meet with elected officials on Capitol Hill and advocate on behalf of the services they provide for the American people.

“This year, as we advance our legislative agenda together, we’re guided by a simple, powerful truth: A strong and nonpartisan federal workforce is essential to a strong America,” said NTEU National President Doreen Greenwald in her opening remarks. “And building that strength means standing firmly with our members and all federal employees who make our government work every day.”

The conference’s launch was joined by several Members of Congress, who spoke to their continued commitment to preserving federal jobs, including Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA), Rep. Glen Ivey (D-MD), and Rep. James Walkinshaw (D-VA).

With its theme of “Our Future, Our Fight,” NTEU members will advocate for preventing the politicization of the civil service in order to ensure the delivery of critical services that Americans rely on. More specifically, NTEU members will focus on the following three key priorities:

  • Defending workplace rights and restoring union rights for hundreds of thousands of federal employees that this administration has attempted to take away

  • Providing agencies with the funding they need to fulfill their missions so federal employees can continue serving the American people

  • Ensuring federal employees receive fair pay and benefits to provide for their families and better recruit and retain the brightest talent for future generations of the civil service

NTEU members are committed to working with their Members of Congress to fight for the future of the civil service and the Oath they took to the Constitution and the American people.
